New Sender Email Address Recommendation
We are making a new recommendation to use NoReply@explore.wisc.edu as your Sender Email Address in Eloqua. Previously, our only requirement had been to send from the @explore.wisc.edu domain, with the prefix being your choice. The challenge with this is if someone opens the contact details in their Email Service Provider’s interface and copies that Sender Email Address to use in a separate reply, that message will not go through since the email address is not valid. To avoid any possible issues in this (rare) case, we now recommend sending from “NoReply@explore.wisc.edu,” instead of customizing the text prior to the @ symbol. This is also Oracle’s best practice recommendation, and a widely used approached across the email marketing industry.
We are changing the default Sender Email Address to noreply@explore.wisc.edu so that you can now skip updating that field. This should also assist with errors in omitting inputs to this field in the Email Asset Design Editor. Please note that if you do wish to change NoReply to a name or other wording, you may still do so, but the sender email suffix still must have @explore.wisc.edu as the sending domain.
Please continue to use the correct Reply-to Name and Reply-to Address, which should be the correct corresponding recipient name and an actual monitored email address, respectively. You can use either an individual’s email address and name, or a departmental account and name. In other words, there are no recommended changes to the require inputs for these email settings—maintain the status-quo.
