Why Didn’t Kristian Birkeland Receive My Email?

Ok, maybe the Norwegian “King of the Northern Lights” is not on your Shared List, but have you ever wondered how a certain contact interacted with (or didn’t as the case may be) your email message?  

You have a few different options to start investigating: via the Campaign or via an individual Contact Record. 

To see a list of all contacts who were excluded, you can open the Campaign, go to the “Actions” drop down (top right corner) and choose, “View Participants.” There you will see included and excluded contacts. Clicking on the “Excludes:=” tab opens up more details. Scroll to the right to locate the “Status” field, which contains the reason for the exclusion. 

Another way to get information is to then investigate a single contact in the individual Contact record. Copy or make note of the exact email address and go to Audience>Contacts, paste the email address in question and click the line item listing to open up the details. Look in Preferences to view possible validity issues, search your Email Group under the Group Subscription area to see if they have unsubscribed from your content, and  go to the Activities dropdown to see whether they have received or opened any emails recently.
